A Legacy Worth Investing In
The Cowboy Trades Association invites individuals, businesses, and foundations to support the preservation and future of traditional Western trades. Your sponsorship helps ensure that the skills, knowledge, and craftsmanship that built the American West continue to be practiced, taught, and passed on.
Who We Are
The Cowboy Trades Association (CTA) is a national coalition of master artisans dedicated to preserving, teaching, and advancing traditional Western trades—while creating meaningful opportunities for apprentices, small businesses, and rural communities.
Why This Matters
As master craftsmen retire, the skills behind saddle making, silversmithing, hat and boot making, rawhide braiding, and blacksmithing are at risk of being lost. CTA exists to ensure these trades remain alive, relevant, and economically viable for future generations.
What We Do
• Produce the touring exhibition Saddle Up! Western Handmade Art & Gear
• Host hands-on workshops led by master artisans
• Support paid apprenticeships and mentorship
• Document techniques and stories through video and oral history
• Create economic opportunity in rural communities
Proven Impact
• 100+ artisans featured across five Western states
• Confirmed museum and cultural center tour stops
• $150,000 secured for exhibit fabrication and storytelling
• Thousands of visitors engaged at the Jackson Hole opening
• Apprenticeships and workshops already underway.
